#TipADay: Updating Price in AX 2012

Now we will discuss a small but yet an important concept of AX 2012 that is ‘updating price with maintaining history of all prices’ . The purpose of using trade agreement over base price is to record and update pricing items including both product and product masters, for transactions.

For this create a new trade agreement for selling price from navigating through Sales and marketing > Journal > Price/ discount agreement journal.

now create a new journal

Add lines, validate and post the journal.

Capture1

User can update price of any particular item number of times. Now perform following steps:

1. Create another trade agreement for updating prices, go to lines go to Select option.

Capture2

2. Mark Prices in relations, select either All in customers/ vendors or select table to select customer/vendor from the drop down or select group to select price group against which trade agreement was previously created, then click on Select at bottom.

Capture3

3. Previously created line will appear in the trade agreement lines, copy line from the menu, another line will appear, close your previous line by providing To Date, to expire that price.Capture4
Now provide From Date and provide new price in Amount in Currency field in your newly copied line.

Validate all lines, post the journal, run jobs and check new price at POS or Sales order, further view Trade agreement or sales prices in sell tab of particular item, which provides complete history of previous and new priceCapture5

I hope this short tip will help you :)

AX2012 R2 Retail: Login failed. The login is from an untrusted domain and cannot be used with Windows authentication.

The scenario is that POS PC and Store database PC are joined to domain however they are on a remote location and without VPN access they cannot resolve Active directory user and FQDN. Instead of a domain account, we used local PC account to perform all actions on SQL and connect Retail POS through the same local user. We also used different credentials for POS and Store database pc, e.g. POSPC and StorePC which is perhaps the mistake we made.

After all setups for POS, when I started AX 2012 R2 Retail POS it stopped working, event viewer showed following error:

“Login failed. The login is from an untrusted domain and cannot be used with Windows authentication”

In order to resolve this error make sure of the following:
1. Username on POS and Store database PC must be SAME.
2. Password for both users must be SAME.

This user will authenticate POS user on Store database PC to connect to SQL database only if the username and password are the same.

Error while Opening AX 2012 R2 Retail POS: could not load all external service modules

It is a common error for AX 2012 R2 POS screen, whenever we setup device information on hardware profile and run the N-jobs, this error usually appears on POS screen and it won’t let you open POS.

The solution I found is simple by copying TestConnector DLL to Retail folder.

1. Copy the Microsoft.Dynamics.Retail.TestConnector.dll from “C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Dynamics AX\60\Client\Bin\Connectors”

2. Paste the Microsoft.Dynamics.Retail.TestConnector.dll to “C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Dynamics AX\60\Retail POS\Connectors”

3. Open POS, Problem solved

#TipADay: Copying Data Between Companies using Excel Add-in

Hello everyone

Here is little tip on how to migrate data through Excel Add-In  . Through Excel Add-in you have the option of selecting what instance, partition, and company that you want to upload and publish to.

Let us work on how we can use the Excel Add-In to copy data between entities.

I have not loaded all of my base data, so we will use our main company as the template to load the data.

1

From the Dynamics AX tool, select the Options button and select your base company from where the data will be copied

To create a linked worksheet within Excel, select the Dynamics AX bar, and then from the drop down menu of the Add data button, click on the Add Tables option

2

This will open up a table selection dialog box. Then select the table that you want to add in sheet

3

You will initially have no records showing. To view all of the data that is in the company, select the Refresh button

4

Now change the Legal Entity that will be used just by selecting it from the drop down list.

6

Then we will save the data from  original company for reference. This will make it easier to cut and paste the data back into the new company. So we just select all of the original table, and then copy it.

7

Now that we have the template data saved we can continue on. Return back to the linked table, and then select the Refresh All option there is no data in the other company then the linked table will be blank.

8

And  now you can see in the below image, there is no data in the other company so linked table will be blank. Select the template data that you saved and then paste it into the linked table.

23

Now from the Publish menu, select the Publish All option

10

Now you can check the Publishing Status ,Your data will be copied from one company to another.

Try this tip, Copy a lot of the base data from another existing company, and  save your time

Step 4: Drag important columns that you want to update

e-4

Step 5: Enter your data in the fields

e-5

Step 6: Select Publish to import the records in AX

e-6

It will also create a new sheet called Dynamics AX Status which will show you how many records were updated, and also any errors –if they occurred.

Step 6: If we return back to Dynamics AX, then we will see the data  has been uploaded.
